The cold store was originally established in the 1960’s by the European transport and logistics company Christian Salvesen.
The 8.5 acre site was sold to Alpine Cold Stores in 2001. Subsequently, in 2007 it was purchased by Dundee Cold Stores Ltd in a joint venture between Scotland’s leading pea and bean-growing companies – WP Bruce Ltd and East Coast Viners.
As Scotland’s only large-scale frozen plant of its kind, the acquisition safeguarded the future of vegetable growing north of the border.
